Bristol’s Best Boozy Dates

Whilst we appreciate that a few tipples are the perfect way to ease your first date nerves or kick back and relax with your other half, we thought you all deserve to know about our boozy experiences that make going to the pub or that chain of cocktail bars a bit run of the mill.

That’s why we’ve created this list of exciting, quirky and sophisticated ways to consume your favourite drinks…We don’t reinvent the wheel here but we do add a bit of spice to proceedings.

1. Blend Your Own Spiced Rum

Talking of spice…this is one spicy date idea. Your evening starts with a welcome drink and a brief run through of the history, geography and production techniques of rum and a delicious tasting.

You’ll then get to create, blend and package your very own bottle of rum to take home and keep. Most importantly you’ll get to pick a name for your concoction and your unique recipe will be kept on file so that you can order more bottles of your rum-tastic creation…

If rum is not your tipple, you can also blend your own gin!

2. Wine Tasting

Who said wine tasting has to be in big groups? Not us…! We assume everyone loves the odd glass of wine or four…but does everyone know what they are talking about?

Luckily, we’ve got the remedy. Visit the hidden gem that is The Library for a cultured but relaxed wine exploration, visit the hidden gem that is The Library for a cultured but relaxed wine exploration.

You’ll be welcomed with a glass of fizz and then get to taste five glasses of wine with our super host sommelier Louise who will give you a brief introduction to each wine and then leave you to enjoy the rest of your glass.

Not only do you get prosecco, wine, wine, wine, wine and more wine but you also get a load of tasty snacks to accompany your drinks including bread and olives, Italian meats and fine cheeses.

3. Teapot Cocktails

If you love tea and you love cocktails then our teapot cocktails are what you need on your next date. Choose cocktails from a selection of corkers, sit back and enjoy the sophistication of serving your booze from teapots and have your very own Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Our personal favourite is Drunken Granny’s Garden which comprises of sparkling prosecco topped with berry, apple, beetroot and hibiscus infused sugar syrup. However we are firm believers of each to their own, so choose whatever it takes your fancy…

4. Gin Tasting

Are you aboard the gin train? Well, we are…and so are Dutch who have over 400 different fins to choose from. This is the perfect date idea for gin ‘lovers’.

One of Dutch’s highly trained staff will guide you through 6 different samples of gin from around the globe and teach you how to perfectly pair them with their rightful botanical’s. By the end of the session, you and your date will be left with your favourite concoction and be left to enjoy your perfect pairing.

5. French Spirit Tasting

This date oozes sophistication. It’s fair to say that the French know what they are talking about when it comes to fine booze.

You’ll start your date with a welcome drink and an introduction to the history, geography and production techniques of Eau De Vie. After a bit more liquid refreshment your host will guide you through a tasting of some exceptional drinks including Cognac and Armagnac. Très bon mon ami!
